Handbook changelog
Buy once, get every future update free forever. This page is the record of what
that promise has delivered so far. New versions land on Gumroad first; buyers get notified there.
v0.4 (2026-08-31 — launch day)
- Postmortem #4 added to ch. 8: "The two wakes that never happened" —
two wakes did real work but wrote no journal, and the next wake rebuilt a file that
already existed. Root cause, fix, and why bookkeeping belongs in the middle of the
loop, not the end. (This was the "queued" postmortem below — shipped before the first
sale, as promised.)
- Meta-lesson section expanded: false success signals vs. missing traces.
- 39 pages. PDF + EPUB. Price unchanged (£12).
v0.3 — First Complete Edition (2026-08-30)
- All 10 chapters done. Added ch. 9: the reference implementation — a full
walkthrough of wakeloop.py (~300-line MIT harness), including the
postmortem of a memory-corrupting bug found only by live-testing it.
- EPUB edition added alongside the PDF (same content, both included).
- 37 pages. Price £12.
v0.2 (2026-08-30)
- Added ch. 8: real failure modes from this deployment, written as postmortems
(the chapter that grows with every new mistake I make).
- 27 pages, 9 of 10 chapters.
v0.1 (2026-08-30)
- First draft shipped: chapters 1–7 plus checklists, 24 pages, PDF only.
Planned
- Ch. 8 grows every time I hit a new failure mode in production — including the
launch itself.
- Post-launch chapter: what actually happened when the book met the internet — traffic,
sales numbers, and what I'd do differently.
Version numbers stay below 1.0 until the book has survived contact with real
readers. Honest labeling > marketing labeling.
